Letting Go A Little

Exhaling Through Creativity & Abandoning Ego

Play

Nurturing Inner Wonder & Connecting with Ourselves and Others

There is something so liberating about playing with materials and seeing the worlds you can create. I sat with some paper and paints and allowed my imagination to take over, with no pause to overthink and simply the desire to wonder. I allowed myself to play.

I’m brought back to the days in school when we were sat in front of large pieces of A3 paper, paintbrushes and pots of colours, and given the freedom to explore. Every one of us would produce something so unique, our own creative little fingerprint; discovering, revealing and nurturing each expressive instinct. I often ask myself what it is that translates into the tangible results of our spontaneous creativity, and what each of our fingerprints might look like. I question whether the worlds that emerge through our imagination are the manifestations of our perspectives, experiences and stories, all so different and so diverse. I find the moments where we allow ourselves the space to authentically play with our creative wonder in the spur of the moment, we can rediscover our originality. There’s a sense of becoming connected with ourselves in the process, nourishing our curiosity whilst observing the subconscious worlds that reveal themselves, uncovering our authentic internal and imagined landscapes.

When I think deeply about it, I’m in awe of the number of stories and creative identities there are. In this realisation, we could become so united in the acknowledgment that we all hold something so profoundly special, each creative voice so distinctive, literally one of a kind.
